Training Practice

As we are a training practice, we cater Trainee Doctors, Physician Associates and medical students from UCLAN.

Dr Butterworth, Dr Smith and Dr A Ali are our lead trainers who utilise a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience to support our trainees to achieve.

Medical StudentsOakenhurst Medical Practice enthusiastically accepts medical students to support those training to become doctors. Patients are made aware of students sitting in with GPs and observing a surgery as part of their training.
Patients retain the right to decline helping with assessment & training, however, we find that our patients are generally happy to assist in the education and training of our future health professionals. For those who are happy to see the medical students, we are very grateful for your help.
ST2/ST3 GP TrainessThese are qualified doctors who are doing further training to become a GP.  They will see you for an appointment and will consult with other clinical staff if required.  They will diagnose and prescribe as appropriate.
Physician AssociatesPhysician Associates are now becoming a vital addition to the ever increasing workforce in the NHS.  Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside doctors  providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. PAs work under the supervision of a doctor but can work autonomously with appropriate support.
