Maternity Care
Antenatal Clinics are run by the Midwives from the Blackburn birthing centre and are held on Friday’s at the surgery. They run both Booking appointments and Antenatal appointments. Pre-conception advice is also available by appointment in the normal surgery. You can register your pregnancy by contacting 01282 804512 or by visiting www.elht.nhs.uk/badgernet
Childhood Vaccination and Immunisation Clinics
These are held weekly on a Thursday/Friday morning by appointment and are run by our practice nurses.
Diabetic Clinic
If you suffer from diabetes you will receive a letter to come and see our practice nurse for a review and blood taken.
Family Planning
All types of family planning are available from the practice.
Coronary Vascular Disease
This clinic is for patients with a history of heart disease, circulatory disease or stroke. They are invited to attend a clinic for regular reviews, one yearly blood test and a six monthly follow up.
Cervical Smears
These are available to women aged between 25 and 65 and will be carried out by appointment by the practice nurses.
Minor Surgery
A limited scope of minor surgery and joint injections are performed at the Oakenhurst Medical Practice, Barbara Castle Way Health Centre Health Centre. Please see the doctor to discuss this.
Asthma Clinic
If you suffer from asthma you will receive regular letters inviting you for review appointment with our practice nurses.
Travel Vaccinations
Travel vaccines are provided at Oakenhurst Medical Practice as a courtesy to our own patients. Please see the Travel Vaccination page under ‘Appointments’ for more information.
